Religious Education
Our school, together with the Parish and family, has the responsibility of passing on the Christian faith and experience to each pupil and of awakening and fostering in them a living and personal faith.
Religious Education is not a lesson that takes place only at a set time, but permeates the whole atmosphere of the life of our school. Our Religious Education curriculum comprises different elements of ‘The Way, The Truth and The Life’ Programme and Building The Kingdom (Educarem) and is further enhanced by the implementation of the Religious Education Directory content in specific year groups.
In Year 3, the children will prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. This is done within the Parish, but with close liaison with the school. Parents, School and Parish work closely in this all-important work.
Acts of worship and prayer are an important feature of the school day and take place in the class and/or with a larger group. Mass and other liturgical celebrations take place in the Church and the school on a regular basis. The Parish clergy visit the school regularly and work alongside the teachers in developing the Religious Life of the school and children also visit the parish church, and take an active part in the liturgies when appropriate.
